I know that there are countless games out there, so I will do my best to keep up with as many as possible. If I miss one that you love, e-mail me and I will do my best to include some news for you.
Ok, first off...
What's new? An awesome new RPG talk show for all of us Internet-tuned dice rollers: Gametalk. Live Sunday nights 9:30pm to 10:00pm EST, they have even gone as far as to set up an ICQ chat forum while the show is going. To listen and participate, launch your browser on over to http://www.gt2k.com.
Let's start with Games Workshop. They have been around for a long time; remember their old game Space Fleet? Well, if you do and liked it... get ready for... Battlefleet Gothic. Here is a snippet from GW's newsletter:
Set during a major Chaos incursion into Imperial space, the game includes full rules for the Chaos and Imperial fleets, plus rules for Ork and Eldar raiding fleets. You also get campaign rules as well, to stretch games into linked settings and work in ship & crew improvements (and damage!).
The game comes complete with Rulebook, counters, dice, range rulers, playsheets, and 8 incredible new plastic ship sprues, which can be assembled into a variety of the large Imperial and Chaos Cruisers (including Gothic class cruisers, of course!).
Battlefleet Gothic sells for $59.99 from GW (big box game).
They have also just released a new Warhammer Fantasy Battle book about vampires, ghouls and the like. If you're into playing the darker side (not a Star Wars reference), then perhaps this book is for you. Another GW
Snippet:
Our newest Warhammer Army Book appears, chock full of new vampire types, plus ghouls, zombies, skeletons, vampire bats, and new monsters and cavalry as well. Coming out with the book will be new Ghouls, Ghosts (as Ethereal Host, they form up several ghosts on a large base), and new vampires too... We're also redoing our Skeleton Regiment box sets with new metal bits to make them more gothic looking to fit into the look & feel of this new Undead army force.
Vampire Counts sells for $24.99 from GW.
Also, if you're into Warhammer 40K, then I suggest going to http://www.blacklibrary.co.uk/ to get info about artwork and the new 40K novels.
As I am sure you all know, White Wolf, the makers of Vampire: The Masquerade, are booming. They have so much news that I hardly know where to start, so I will just mention a few things that are of great interest... The PC game version of Vampire: The Masquerade is coming along great and contains multi-player support, too. Looks like I will buy this one; no more 2am LARPin' for me... just log on! Go here for all the details: http://pc.ign.com/previews/11636.html. Also go to http://www.white-wolf.com for all their news. They have a lot of it.
http://www.wizards.com/News/Welcome.html is the place to go for TSR/WOTC news. They have all sorts of great things on their way, including a Pokemon trading game con!
AD&D isn't lost! WOTC are actually breathing new life into the oldest RPG to come around. Here's a snippet from WOTC:
1999 marks the 25th Anniversary of both the D&D game and TSR itself. As a part of our Silver Anniversary, we surveyed thousands of gamers about the products they loved the most.
To celebrate this milestone, we're doing something very special. Instead of just "reprinting" some old adventures, we'll be returning to the scene of some of the greatest adventures in the history of the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game.
This year, you and your characters can return to the "Keep on the Borderlands", fight the battle for the lands of Geoff in "Against the Giants", and explore the mysteries of White Plume Mountain. Each of these adventures is rewritten from scratch - but they still retain the flavor of the original best-selling modules.
As always, SJ Games has some great stuff heading to the shelves, and as always the best way to get that info is to go straight to their site, http://www.sjgames.com. Looks like they have the new Traveller for GURPS and Illuminati New World Order Y2K set up and coming, as well as a lot of great games.
All the products I discussed above are available at the RPG Host store at: http://www.rpghost.com/MyStore for 20% off the listed retail price.
If I have missed anything, or you come across something that needs to be included or that others might want to know, drop me a line.
Editor's Note:We just received this press release from new gaming company Basement Games Unlimited. Thought you might be interested.
