It has been a while since I've had the time to write anything for our newsletter, but this is important enough that I have taken the time to write this.
You may or may not have heard of the sale of a site called WebRPG. WebRPG is a leader in online role-playing. They have a very sophisticated and original Java application for simulating a virtual online tabletop, complete with miniatures, dice, character sheets and multi-layered maps. Thus leaving the control of the game in the hands of the game master and maintaining the free-form environment of live gaming. WebRPG represents a community of nearly 80,000 role-players and wargamers.
UGO Networks, our ads sponsor, is buying this site and application and have contracted RPG Host to manage the site. We will have complete control over the WebRPG site and as such you can expect that RPG Host and WebRPG will be working closely together in the future. This announcement should appear on WebRPG's site within a week or so.
How does this effect you? Well, great opportunities are available for promoting your sites and/or games. We intend to run even more contests and want to hold live conferences with special guests and run some scheduled events and high profile games. RPG Host will benefit from the increased user base and WebRPG will benefit from the great content that RPG Host offers.
If you have some ideas on how to improve WebRPG or would like to offer your services to help out, please send me a message and we'll talk. This help could be in the form of running a few high profile games using the WebRPG engine, to managing a message forum, or whatever. We are also looking for some special guests for online chats.
I'd like to take this opportunity to also personally thank UGO Networks for their interest and support in traditional role-playing over the net. UGO started the "Paper and Dice Channel" a couple months ago and RPG Host has been a part of it from the beginning. UGO is very involved in all kinds of gaming sites on the web. Do us all a favor and spread the word about their network!
Happy gaming!
