==============
1.0 What's New
==============

1.1) Support for Java 2 Runtime

This version should run faster and have less memory problems.
We now use "java.exe" to run the system instead of "jre.exe".
So if you've created your own startup scripts you'll need to
edit them to start using the new java.exe

1.2) Skins!

This is a term used loosly as its strick meaning has to do applying
textures to 3D models. What we mean by skin is an interface make-over.
Approved skins will be released by WebRPG from time to time. If you
are interested in submitting a skin set, please ask our webmaster for
documentation.

1.3) Off-Line Mode.

You can now work on your adventure while off-line. This was
designed to allow GM's to work on their adventures without
having to first login to the internet. When WebRPG cannot
connect to the server (because your not connected or for
whatever reason) - it automatically goes into off-line mode.

If you want to force the off-line mode (even when you are
connect to the net), create an empty text file called "offline"
(without the .txt extension) in the WebRPG directory.

Off-Line mode is not a fail-save method of use... make sure
you first have downloaded all required images into your
cache directory. Also remember to save your work often.

1.4) Resource addtions and add-on packs

We have assembled a ton of user created miniatures and
character sheets and more! We categorized them and packed
them up for you all to use! Visit our web site at
http://www.webrpg.com to find the User ADD-ON downloads.
Once installed, new buttons will appear near your status
window, allowing you to load and unload these large
archives.

1.5) Configurable Dice Toolbar

When you RIGHT CLICK on the dice in the main game console screen
you will be allowed to select from a list of dice (including
serveral new dice types) to include on the dice toolbar. Simply
click these on or off to customize your dice toolbar.

ROLLS:
When you select this you'll notice a text box to the LEFT of
the set of dice on dice toolbar. This will allow you to put in
a number of dice rolls that will apply to most of the dice
buttons. So if you place a "3" in the box, each time you
click on the d20 button it will actually roll 3 of them.

MODIFER:
When you select this you'll notice a text box to the RIGHT
of the set of dice on dice toolbar. This will allow you to put
in a modifier (+,-,*,/) of dice rolls that will apply to most
of the dice buttons. So if you place a "+3" in the box, each
time you click on the d20 button it will roll 1d20 and then
add 3 to it. NOTE: the "+" is required or the die itself is
   modified.

OPEN ENDED:
Selecting this toggle on (depressed) will tell the system
that you want all your dice to use the rule that if it
rolls the maximum possible on the selected die, it should
reroll that same die and add it to the original results.
   This repeats...

TARGET:
Setting this toggle on (depressed) and entering a value in
the field next to it, will tell the system that you want a
total count of the number of dice that have met a target
number. Thus the result is NOT the total of all the dice
but rather the total number of dice that were equal to or
greater than the target number. This is used in Shadowrun.

GM FAKE:
If you are the GM for the game, you can fake the dice. This
is needed sometimes to keep the story going in the right
direction. Use it sparingly and practice it first or you'll
look stupid if you make a mistake.

Use the Modifier field to enter the dice style you're rolling.
Use the d-macro field to enter the fake result of the roll.
Then press the button and watch as the players believe it :)

D666: Rolls 3 six siders, with 2 of them being added for the
tens and ones digits and the last one used for the
      hundreds digit.

-1,0,1: Rolls a 3 sided die that has the sides -1, 0 and 1. These
are known as Fortune dice for Feng Shui.

DIGIT:
If you toggle this mode on, the first die rolled is the ones
digit, the second fills the 10's digit, the third the hundred's
place, etc. So 3d6 with this mode on can be 111 - 666

1.6) Tracker game filter

In the tracker you can now enter a word to filter (restrict) the
list of games by. For example, if you entered "AD&D" it would show
you all games that have a title or host name including those letters
and no other games. This should make it simple to find games run
by your buddies on busy nights. Of course it's up to the players to
follow some standards in naming your games. Try to include the game
system used in the name of the game.

1.7) Multiple Whisper

WebRPG now allows you to send a whisper to more than one recipient at a time.
You use this feature the same as you would use the old whisper, with the
following differences:

a) To send a whisper to multiple people in a contigous block, click a person's
name on one end of the block. Then hold the shift key and click on the
person at the other end of the block. This will select all people in between
   to receive the whisper.
b) To select a non-contiguous group, hold the control key and click on each
person you want to send the whisper to.

Example 1:
Three other users are logged in with me: Xerxes, Perseus, Ares, and Vulcan.
That is also the order they appear in in the whisper list. If I want to whisper
to Xerxes, Perseus, and Ares, I would click on Xerxes, then hold shift and
click on Ares. Then type my message like I would for a normal whisper. Xerxes,
Perseus, and Ares will see that I whispered them. Vulcan will see nothing.

Example 2:
Same people logged in, same order. This time, I want to whisper to Perseus and
Vulcan, but not Ares. I would click Perseus, then hold control and click on
Vulcan. Then type my message like I would a normal whisper. Perseue and Vulcan
will see my whisper, and Xerxes and Ares will see nothing.

1.8) Misc bug fixes and changes

- More options for turning off cirtain sounds and yet leaving others on

- WebRPG now keeps track of your last save/load directory and also auto
appends a ".rpg" to the end of your saved files.

- Removed the Keep icon in preperation for a Tracker channel chat

- Random dice roll sounds and more sound on/off options

- Many performance enhancments

- Fixed tracker scroll bug with MAC's MRJ 2.0

- Fixed console hang bug with MAC's MRJ 2.0

- Added new cool credits window (click on the WebRPG word in the console)

- Sever bug allowing duplicate login names was fixed and are now restricted
  25 characters max.

- Rolling dice now displays something in the status window so you know it
was a true dice rool - not someone trying to fake it.

====================
2.0 Troubleshooting
====================

2.1) If the new version of WebRPG doesn't run and the old version did:

- Make sure you have installed the Java 2 Runtime which uses
the "java.exe" command instead of "jre.exe".

- If you cannot install the new runtime (which is recommended that
you do), you can try running Webrpg using the old JRE runtime
with the command:

        webrpg1.bat

- Also note that the 2.2.0 version uses "WEBRPG.class" to start the
java application, not "RPG.class" as the old version did.

2.2) Low Disk space

If you are low on disk space, you can clean up some unused disk
space from the previous version by running the command:

       cleanup.bat

2.3) Can't enter the Keep from WebRPG

We have removed the direct connection to the Keep chat system
in anticipation of an upgrade to that product.

2.4) WebRPG keeps saying I'm in off-line work mode.

We've implemented a new work mode for when you're not connected
to the internet or cannot establish a connection with the server.
This mode automatically kicks in and allows you to work on your
adventure while off-line.

If you're on-line and this shouldn't be happening, check the Java
runtime window for error messages and make sure you're not behind
any firewall or proxy or such that might be interfering.

2.5) "Bad command or file name." Error

This is cause by the fact that the new version of WebRPG uses the
Java 1.2 runtime by default. Sun changed the program name from
"JRE.EXE" in 1.1 to "JAVA.EXE" in 1.2. We have created another
batch file called "webrpg1.bat" that will launch the system using
the old JRE runtime, but we recomend you update to 1.2

If you have upgraded to 1.2 and still have this problem. We suggest
that you uninstall 1.1 and 1.2 and reinstall 1.2 as your only
Java runtime. There are problems with the plugin's to switch between
the two modes - so don't trust them.

Lastly, you could be having this problem because the java.exe file
is not in your system search path. Change your "PATH" to point to
the location of the installed java.exe

Sometimes, if you let Java 1.2 install itself you need to add this
line to your autoexec.bat in Win95/98

path=c:\progra~1\javasoft\jre\1.2\bin;%path%

then reboot the computer and try the webrpg.bat again.

==============
3.0 KNOWN BUGS
==============

3.1) Center tag around links

Links in HTML Viewer (Adventure Assitant) don't work properly
when between >center> and >/center>. Maybe x,y click location
is bad?

WORK AROUND: Remove the >center> tags from your html.

3.2) Kicking people

Kicking someone out of the room makes the system hang. This
bug has gotten worse in this new version.

WORK AROUND: Don't kick people, ask them nicely to leave. Try
using a password on your game. If you must kick, try to click
it only once and be patient (several miniutes) as it sometimes
unlocks itself.

3.3) Character sheet divider

Character sheet divider line doesn't seem to show up. Maybe it
should be wider (5-10 pixels)

WORK AROUND: If you use several of them next to each-other they
do show up. You might be able to create a new graphic to use
instead of the current one.

3.4) Skin button transparancy

The GIF transparancy color doesn't work for image buttons used
in the tracker and such. Java seems to be painting the image
with the transparancy color set to black.

WORK AROUND: Include the background in your image buttons for
your skin.

3.5) .RPG save file corruption

There is a bug that causes large .rpg files to get corrupt. It
might be related to attempting to do multiple item drag/move.

WORK AROUND: Save often and to different names. To check the
file you need to exit the game console and reenter as sometimes
the file will reload fine but not the next time you enter. Avoid
making one really large .RPG save file.

3.6) Green Messages

Sometimes when in a character sheet and a message comes across
its forced to green.

WORK AROUND: Work on your character sheets off-line if this bugs
you. It really shouldn't effect anything major.
